Vandaag staat het allerlaatste natuurpark op het programma: Yosemite park. Maar eerst ontbijten! Dit verliep niet op een hoog tempo. Dit kwam niet door ons, maar omdat dit het eerste hotel is waar we bediend werden. We moesten al 10 minuten wachten voordat we ons glaasje jus hadden, laat staan dat het eten snel kwam. Maar we hebben wel lekker gegeten, daar gaat het toch om tijdens de vakantie…
Na het ontbijt staat ons weer een lange autotocht voor de boeg. Om deze rit niet weer na 15 minuten in slaap te vallen besluiten we eerst maar een koffie te halen bij Starbucks. Het heeft geholpen, want ik ben tijdens de reis naar Yosemite niet in slaap gevallen.
Het eerste deel van Yosemite park waren de mammoetbomen. Sommige zijn echt zo groot dat ze werkelijk enkele meers dikke stammen hebben en heel erg veel meters de lucht in schieten. Wat voel je je dan nietig als je daarnaast staat.
Tijdens de autotocht door het park zijn we op diverse punten gestopt om te genieten van de diverse uitzichten in dit park. De laatste stop in dit park is Mirror Lake. Hiervoor mochten we eerst een eindje wandelen. Door de periode in het jaar stond het meer half droog, waardoor het een tegenvaller was toen we aankwamen. Maar neemt niet weg dat de omgeving prachtig is.
Na het bezoek aan het park konden we naar ons hotel. Hiervoor moesten we nog een eindje rijden. Het eerste deel van de tocht was door de bergen. Kleine weggetjes met veel bochten. Hierdoor kreeg ik weer flashbacks naar onze vakantie van vorig jaar. Gelukkig kwam er redelijk snel een einde aan de bergen en konden we weer gas geven.
Het is vandaag de eerste keer dat we in het pikdonker bij ons hotel aankomen. Snel maar even een hapje eten en daarna boodschappen doen bij de Wal Mart. Tot onze verbazing is in deze Wal Mart maar slechts 2% bestemd voor voedsel, de rest is allemaal non-food. Dit keer dus geen vers fruit en cheesecake. Dan morgen maar op zoek naar een andere Wal Mart.
