Vandaag mogen we de auto in gaan leveren. We gaan namelijk op weg naar San Francisco. We hebben besloten om hier alles met het openbaar vervoer of de benenwagen te doen. Dan is het zonde de auto in de parkeergarage (á $ 25 per dag) te laten staan.
De auto gaan we inleveren op het vliegveld van San Francisco. Maar niet voordat we een autoritje hebben gemaakt over de highway 1 en onze bagage hebben gedropt in het hotel.
Voordat we het laatste ritje met de auto gaan maken gaan we op zoek naar een supermarkt waar we fruit kunnen halen. Daar hebben we allebei wel trek in. Gelukkig kwamen we, doordat we ook op zoek waren naar Starbucks, terecht bij Safeway. Deze supermarkt is wel tien keer mooier dan de Wal Mart. Hadden we dit maar eerder geweten…
De route over highway 1 is werkelijk weer prachtig. Deze keer geen bergen, maar strand en zee. Gefascineerd kijk ik de hele tijd naar het water, in de hoop dat ik dolfijnen of walvissen zie in het water. Maar dat geluk was ons niet gegund.
Nadat we ons hotel hadden bereikt en de bagage in de kamer hadden gedropt was het tijd om afscheid te gaan nemen van onze auto. We moesten naar het vliegveld om deze af te leveren. Bijna gebeurde het: een aanrijding omdat we op het laatst besloten ergens links af te slaan. Het zal je toch gebeuren… Gelukkig niet gebeurd!
Na ruim 2800 miles met de auto mogen we nu verder met het openbaar vervoer. De trein brengt ons terug naar het centrum van San Francisco.
In het centrum maken we een korte wandeling door het Financial district. Aangezien het zondag is (tenminste, wij denken dat dit de reden is) is het hier erg stil. We besluiten dan ook maar om vanavond naar de bios te gaan. Momenteel draait hier tijdelijk The Lion King in 3D. Dit is iets wat ik in Los Angeles al heb gezien en ik nog steeds graag wil zien. Schuin tegenover ons hotel zit een bioscoop, dus we hoeven niet ver te zoeken.
Heel erg veel toegevoegde waarde heeft het 3D-effect niet, maar op de één of andere manier heeft het wel iets bijzonders.
Na de film zijn we teruggegaan naar het hotel en ons plan uitgestippeld voor de komende dagen, dus wordt vervolgd!!!
