Na een lekker ontbijtje op de kamer gaan we weer lekker op pad. Blijkbaar is het een Amerikaans spelletje wat ik nog niet ken: Omlopen! Edwin had vandaag weer de controle over de plattegrond, maar helaas kwamen we bij een doodlopende straat. Vanaf nu ben ik weer gewoon de leider over de plattegrond.
Uiteindelijk komen we wel op de plaats van bestemming: Pier 33. Dit is de pier waar vandaan de boot vertrekt naar Alcatrez. Ondanks dat we wat tijd hadden verloren waren we wel op tijd om op onze gereserveerde boot te kunnen.
Op het eiland hebben we een audio-rondleiding gelopen door de gevangenis. Dit was zeer interessant en bijzonder en leerzaam. Na het bezoek aan Alcatrez gaan we naar Lombard Street. Dit is een straatje die zigzaggend loopt. Heel grappig om te zien hoe de auto’s naar beneden rijden.
Onze volgende activiteit is de Cable Car. Dit is ook iets wat je gedaan moet hebben in SF. Een zeer leuke en grappige ervaring. En een ander voordeel: we hoeven zelf de heuvels een keer niet te lopen.
De Cable Car brengt ons in Union Square. Dit is het winkel gebied van SF. Hier lopen we even doorheen, maar we houden ons weer netjes in.
Vanuit hier gaan we op naar het volgende Amerikaanse spelletje, we gaan namelijk naar de baseball game van Oakland Athletics tegen de Texas Rangers. Na drie weten we redelijk hoe het spel gaat en hoe de puntentelling gaat. Ook weten we dat het een redelijk duf spel is om naar te kijken en naar onze mening ook duf om te spelen. Hierbij wat extra info: de Oakland Athletics in de drie uur slechts 3 goede ballen hebben geslagen…
Na de wedstrijd gingen we weer met de trein terug naar Union Square. Vanuit daar mochten we nog een stukje lopen om bij het hotel aan te komen. Maar we zullen weer heerlijk slapen!
