En weer mag ik nieuwe understudy’s ervaren: Kelvin als Fiyero en Manon als Glinda. Van beide heb ik niet zulke hoge verwachtingen dus ik ben benieuwd of ze mij kunnen verrassen.

Manon is naar mijn idee nog een beetje zoekende naar het type Glinda wat ze wilt spelen. Door diverse stemmetjes te gebruiken is het voor mj nog duidelijk hoe Manon is en hoe ze Glinda speelt. Haar zang is mooi, alleen net als Chantal haalt ze de noten niet allemaal met gemak. Ik heb Manon betrapt op een aantal vergissingen in de tekst, wat ik erg slordig vond.
Kelvin maakt zeker geen goede start: hij zit al half in de wagen, als Elphaba hem ‘wakker maakt’. Tevens verspreekt hij zich bij z’n eerste tekst: “Ik denk niet dat ik het hier lang vol ga houden dus ik zie je snel weer!”.
Kelvin doet absoluut zijn best en straal ook volledig op het podium, maar de kwaliteiten kan ik nog niet geheel zien. Zijn dans vind ik niet denderend en de zang erbij lijkt hij niet te halen. In combinatie met Willemijn lijkt hij volledig overruled te worden, zodat je zijn stem bijna niet meer hoort. Ik hoop voor kelvin dat hij deze week een mooie groei kan doormaken, aangezien hij een aantal shows achter elkaar zal spelen.
Deze show zijn mij de volgende dingetjes opgevallen:
– Fiyero loopt niet achter Glinda aan op de brug.
– Fiyero valt op z’n kont als hij van de slinger af springt. Hierdoor moet iedereen op het toneel lachen. Ook de zaal waardeerde de aktie.
– De kleding van Glinda zat soms niet goed: bandje van d’r jurk zakt steeds af tijdens ‘Populair’ en bij de ‘bubble-jurk’ viel d’r kraag af nadat ze door de wachters was opgetild.
– Nadat Glinda er achter is gekomen dat Fiyero andere plannen heeft kan ze niet op het woord excuseren komen: “Als jullie mij nu willen v…, euh, ik ga even liggen.”.
– Het moment dat Glinda realiseerde dat Fiyero echt van Elphaba houdt is mooi: ze zegt ‘Hij houdt… (mooie stilte), hij houdt van haar.
– De tovernaar moet van Glinda onbetaald onbepaald verlof nemen.
