Gisteravond vond in het M-Lab de première plaats van Who’s afraid of Woody Allen? Deze voorstelling is een resultaat van de M-Lab Proef, een pitchavond waar makers de mogelijkheid krijgen hun idee voor een nieuw muziektheater over het voetlicht te brengen.
Tijdens de show krijgt het publiek een kijkje in de repetities voor een televisieserie. In deze serie spelen drie roodharige zussen de hoofdrol. Elke zus heeft zo haar problemen en karaktereigenschappen. Anna (Jolanda van den Berg) speelt de oudste zus en wordt door haar jongste zus Leonie (Sytske van de Ster) belazerd met haar man Herbert (Ad Knippels). Dit terwijl Leonie getrouwd is met Maximiliaan (Theo Nijland). De middelste zus Lotte (Janna Fassaert) is de zus die overal maar tussen zit en haar eigen weg gaat. Rein Hofman speelt naast Ernst ook nog een ander personage en is middels diverse manieren gelinkt aan de overige personages.
Gedurende de show stappen de spelers in de diverse personages uit de televisieserie. Het overschakelen tussen de personages op het toneel en de personages in de televisieserie wordt soms ondersteund door toespelingen naar het publiek. Hierdoor krijgt het publiek nog meer het gevoel in een repetitieruimte aanwezig te zijn.
De voorstelling bevat zeer komische sketches en mooie zelfreflecties. In een eenvoudig toneel, worden de repetities getoond aan het publiek en soms ondersteund door mooie jazz nummers onder leiding van Marc-Peter van Dijk. Dat de spelers kunnen zingen is dan ook gebleken.
Who’s afraid of Woody Allen? staat gegarandeerd voor een avondje licht verteerbare drama en heel veel humor. Who’s afraid of Woody Allen? is exclusief te zien in het M-Lab tot en met 26 maart.
