Spanje, de jaren 30. Te midden van haar vijf dochters en haar bedienden bestuurt Bernarda Alba met ijzeren vuist haar kleine koninkrijk. De strenge moeder is zojuist weduwe geworden. Na de begrafenis kondigt zij voor haar huis acht jaar rouw af. Vanaf nu moeten haar vijf dochters zwart dragen, binnen blijven en bovenal hun maagdelijkheid, hun eer en de goede naam van de familie bewaken. Maar alle dochters snakken naar vrijheid, naar liefde, naar een ander leven, dat zich niet door het strenge regime van Bernarda laat beteugelen…
Vanmiddag vond in het theater M-Lab de perspresentatie plaats van de voorstelling Berbarda Alba. De opbrengst van benefietvoorstelling Bernarda Alba gaat naar Wings of Support. Deze stichting probeert kinderen in te helpen aan onderdak, onderwijs en medische hulp om zo een duurzame verbetering van de kwaliteit van het leven te bewerkstelligen in hun eigen woonomgeving.
Jeroen van Delft, de regisseur van het stuk, vertelde kort waar het verhaal van Bernarda Alba over gaat. Dit werd gevolgd door een voorproefje uit drie scènes van de show. Irene Kuiper, Poncia, laat ons middels een heftig lied voelen hoe zij als bediende zich voelt in het huist van Bernarda. Nathalie van Gent, Martiorio, zingt een prachtig nummer over haal gevoelens. Tot slot krijgen we een deel van een scène te zien waar alle zussen in meespelen. Helaas zijn tijdens de perspresentatie de mannen van het stuk, John Vooijs en Jeroen Phaff, niet aanwezig.
Door de zwartgeklede personages lijkt het in eerste instatie een heel truerig gebeuren. Maar tijdens de show zullen ook vrolijke nummer ter gehore gebracht worden. De muziek die wij tijdens de perspresentatie te horen hebben gekregen klinkt al geweldig
Bernarda Alba is alleen te zien op woensdag 30 mei en donderdag 31 mei te zien. Op beide dagen zal de voorstelling, die 75 minuten duurt, 2 keer per avond te zien zijn om 19:15uur en om 21:30uur.
