Nadat ik een aantal maanden geleden weer begonnen ben met roken merk ik dat mijn conditie hier toch onder te lijden heeft. Na mijn rondje skaten van gister merkte ik dat mijn longen niet de nodige zuurstof kunnen leveren om rustig een rondje vol te brengen. Tijdens het rondje bedacht ik mij dat ik toch wel moest stoppen met roken. Maar dit is makkelijker gezegd dan gedaan. Hoe lekker is het om af en toe een sigaret te roken?
Bij het stoppen is het een kwestie van ‘gewoon niet doen’, maar hierbij moet je er wel volledig achter staan. Mij is dit van half januari tot en met half mei gelukt, maar toen ik eenmaal weer een sigaret had opgestoken, merkte ik dat ik het toch wel miste.
Nu sta ik in dubio: stoppen of doorgaan? Uiteraard is hier maar één verstandig antwoord op en dat is ‘stoppen’. Dit is niet zo van de één op de andere minuut te realiseren. Hierbij zitten nog een aantal kanttekeningen: momenteel ben ik bezig met het schrijven van mijn masterscriptie. Tussen de bedrijven door heb ik echt wel behoefte om even te roken. Daarnaast ben ik bang dat ik weer flink wat kilo’s aan ga komen. En met het thuiszitten ga ik alleen maar meer eten als ik niet mag roken.
Behalve een betere conditie zie ik momenteel niet echt voordelen om te stoppen. Misschien moet ik er nog even over nadenken en later besluiten om de sigaretten te laten liggen…
