Voor de zekerheid hadden wij voor vanochtend de wekker gezet, maar voor het ellendige geluid dat dit maakt waren wij gelukkig al wakker. Vandaag staat de stad Milaan op het programma. We beginnen met een bezoek aan San Siro (voor de niet-voetbalkenners: het voetbalstadion van zowel AC Milan als Inter Milan). Best wel billig als je een stadion moet delen…
Weer ben ik er in getuind: Edwin zal ons daar wel heen brengen. Hij begreep niet dat San Siro naast een naam van het stadion ook de naam van een wijk is. Gelukkig hebben we het op een andere kaart snel gevonden en konden we aan de lange wandeltocht beginnen. De metrohalte die Edwin had uitgezocht was helaas niet voldoende.
Na het stadion gaan we de cultuur van Milaan verkennen. Als eerste bezoeken we ‘Castello Sforzesco’. Een groot deel van dit kasteel staat in de steigers. Zal ik het daarom niet zo mooi vinden? Daarna lopen we via Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II naar de Duomo de Milano. Beide doen mij eerlijk gezegd niet zo veel. Wellicht ben ik toch wel een cultuurbarbaar in dat opzicht.
Via wat leuke weggetjes komen we in het fashion district. Aangezien ik mijzelf voor had genomen om niets te kopen werd het winkelen er niet veel leuker op, maar het is wel bijzonder om te zien dat er zoveel dure kleding te krijgen is. Een jurkje van €10.000 is hier niet zo gek. Tussen het winkels aflopen (want shoppen kan ik het niet noemen) is het tijd voor het eerste ijsje van vandaag.
Wandelend gaan we terug naar het hotel. Onze voetjes kunnen wel even wat rust gebruiken, want voor het diner gaan we namelijk weer op pad. Op de stadsplattegrond staat aangegeven waar het uitgaansgebied van Milaan is. Wij gaan ervan uit dat hier ook wel de restaurants te vinden zijn. Het gebied is werkelijk volledig net zo uitgestorven als de rest van stad. Uiteindelijk vinden we één straatje waar meerdere mensen lopen en wij een keuze hebben uit verschillende restaurants.
Uit vrije wil bestel ik een pasta: ravioli met gehakt en tomatensaus. Het was verrukkelijk. Telkens als ik pasta eet, vraag ik mij af waarom ik dat thuis nooit eet… Het diner sluiten we af met een ijsje.
Tijdens de wandeling terug naar het hotel nemen we wederom weer een ijsje. Ik zou het er bijna koud van krijgen!
