Al een langere tijd heb ik in mijn hoofd dat ik naar de musical Blood Brothers wil. Vanochtend last minute een kaartje voor deze show gekocht.
Laat ik beginnen met het verhaal. Deze is werkelijk ingrijpend. Tweelingbroers die bij de geboorte uit elkaar zijn gehaald, vrienden worden bij het buitenspelen en als ze een jaar of 30 zijn sterven door een ‘ongeluk’ nadat hen verteld is dat zij tweelingbroers zijn.
De uitvoering vind ik persoonlijk iets minder. Qua acteurs hadden ze van mij wel wat meer mogen selecteren op uiterlijk. De ene lelijkerd na de andere verschijnt op het podium. Daarnaast is de zang niet erg geweldig. Behalve Vivienne Carlyle, in de rol van Mrs Johnstone, zij zingt de sterren van de hemel en met vol overgave.
Het decor is ook niet echt denderend, maar kan er mee door.
Kortom, ik ben niet heel erg enthousiast. Misschien had ik de lat te hoog gelegd… Ik werk graag mee aan een nieuwe (Nederlandse) versie van dit prachtige verhaal.
