We vertrekken vandaag vanuit Beijing naar Guilin. Om 6.00u gaat de wekker zodat we om 7.00u klaarstaan om met de taxi naar het vliegveld te gaan. We komen hier rond 7.45u aan, zodat we nog genoeg tijd hebben voor onze vlucht van 9.10u. Tenminste, dat dachten we…
Toen we via de self check in wilden inchecken kregen we een foutmelding. Ach, kan gebeuren. Dan lopen we wel gewoon naar de balie. Bij de balie is de mevrouw best een tijdje bezig, maar zegt niets. Ze roept alleen een collega erbij en gaat in het Chinees met haar praten. En ja, daar versta ik echt nog steeds helemaal niets van. Op een gegeven moment stuurt ze ons door naar het loket waar de tickets verkocht worden. Hier zouden ze ons wel kunnen helpen, zodat we wel kunnen inchecken. Helaas bleek na een half uur wachten dat we ook hier niet geholpen kunnen worden, ondanks de diverse telefoontjes die zij plegen in het Chinees. Ook vanuit hier worden we door gestuurd, deze keer naar de travelagency. Inmiddels is het wel al 8.00u, de tijd begint nu toch wel een beetje te dringen. Ook bij de travelagency zijn ze flink aan het bellen, maar ook hier is vrij weinig van te verstaan. Op een gegeven moment krijgt Edwin een telefoontje op zijn mobiel met een melding dat alles nu geregeld zou moeten zijn. Wij weer terug naar de ticketloket. Daar kregen we te horen dat we niet meer konden inchecken omdat de balies al gesloten waren en we omgeboekt konden worden naar de vlucht van 12.40u. Tja, dan heb je eigenlijk weinig keus…
We moeten ons nu dus een aantal uurtjes gaan vermaken op een vliegveld wat lang niet zo gezellig is als Schiphol. Dan maar uitgebreid koffie drinken bij Starbucks en later een aantal aflevering ‘friends’ kijken om te tijd te doden.
Eindelijk mogen we aan boord. De vlucht gaat redelijk, maar toch blijf ik het een hel vinden als je niets te doen hebt en een aantal uur stil moet zitten in een stoel met te weinig ruimte voor je. Niet zeuren, ik moet er wat voor over hebben om iets van de wereld te zien!
Als we in Guilin aankomen staat iemand van de travelagency met een naambordje met mijn naam op ons te wachten. Edwin vindt dit helemaal tof. Helaas geen tijd genomen om hiervan een foto te maken. Degene van de travelagency is een zeer aardige Chinees die goed Engels praat. Hij zorgt ervoor dat wij goed in ons hotel aankomen, wij leuke trips kunnen boeken voor de komende dagen, wij in een goedkoop hotel komen over twee dagen en wij weer teruggebracht gaan worden naar het vliegveld aankomende vrijdag. Topper!!
Inmiddels is het al avond en vinden wij het tijd voor een diner. Naast ons prachtig hotelcomplex, wat echt typisch Chinees is btw, ligt een shoppingmall. Helaas niet zo luxe, maar wel met leuke tentjes om te eten.
Na het eten halen we nog even een ontbijtje voor morgenochtend en een lekkere zak schepsnoep voor tijdens de trip morgen.
Op tijd gaan we terug naar ons hotel en ik neem een lekker bad voor ik ga slapen.
