De eerste excursie van Guilin staat vandaag gepland: we gaan naar de rice teraces. We worden bij ons hotel opgehaald door een busje. Binnen enkele minuten was ik al stikjaloers. In de bus zat namelijk een gezin, met kinderen van 10 en 12, die voor elf maanden een wereld reis maken en een meid die in haar eentje 3,5 maand door een deel van de wereld reist. Tja, kom ik dan met mijn twee weken vakantie.
We starten in Long Hair Village. De naam zegt het al: een dorp waar de vrouwen hun haar niet afknippen en dus heel lang haar hebben. We krijgen een show te zien met zang en dans. Kwalitatief echt een topshow…
Vervolgens gaan we na de lunch met de bus richting de rice teraces. Vanaf de parkeerplaats wordt het een flinke klim. Het uitzicht onderweg is prachtig en op de top helemaal. Toch had ik mij het uitzicht heel ander voorgesteld, meer iets van uitgestrekte bergen ofzo.
Na het bereiken van de top moeten we ook weer naar beneden. Gelukkig gaat dat over het algemeen niet iets makkelijker.
Met het busje worden we weer afgezet bij het hotel. We gaan in de shopping mall naast ons hotel even wat eten en zijn lekker op tijd weer in ons hotel om de beentjes te laten rusten.
