Ondanks de jetlag was ik toch op tijd wakker, waardoor we vandaag lekker op tijd op pad konden. We beginnen vandaag met een wandeling naar en over De Bund. Dit is een boulevard langs de Huangpurivier. Vanaf De Bund heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline van de wijk Pudong. Na een flinke wandeling over De Bund gaan we verder per boot. We maken een boottocht over de Huangpurivier. Na een uurtje val ik een beetje in slaap. Misschien toch meer last van de jetlag dan ik dacht. Op een gegeven moment word ik wakker en gaan we weer aan wal. Alleen niet op de plek waar wij zijn opgestapt. Blijkt dat we gedropt worden op het bierfestival en zelf maar uit mogen zoeken hoe we terug komen. Fijn, dat wordt dus nog meer lopen.
Toen we eenmaal weer aan het begin van De Bund waren, hadden we voor vanmiddag wel genoeg de toerist uitgehangen. We gaan even naar een groot winkelcentrum. Ik had namelijk thuis al uitgezocht of er in Shanghai een Hollister zat. Blijft toch een lievelings. Na een beetje zoeken komen we de winkel tegen en met twee flinke tassen vol kleding lopen we weer naar buiten.
Momenteel verblijft een vriendin van mij, Laura, ook in Shanghai om voor een jaar Nederlandse les te geven. Daarnaast zijn dit weekend haar vriend en een aantal vriendinnen bij haar op bezoek. Wat is er dan leuker om met een grote groep de hort op te gaan.
We beginnen de avond met een diner. Laura die besteld op haar Chinees een aantal gerechten vanaf voorbeelden die zijn uitgestalt. Zo grappig om Laura Chinees te horen praten. Na het eten bezoeken we een acrobatenshow. Wat een bijzondere ervaring en wat is het bizar om te zien wat die Chinezen allemaal kunnen en durven.
Na de show gaan we terug naar het echte centrum en doen we iets wat in China heel populair is: Karaoken! Ik wist niet heel goed wat ik mij er bij voor moest stellen. Ik had het idee dat we in een soort kroeg terecht zouden komen en waar je voor een groepje mensen je niet aanwezige talent moest showen. Toch blijkt het hier nog gekker te zijn. We komen uit op de 11e verdieping van een pand, waar meer dan 300 kamers zijn, in verschillende grootte, wat huiskamers voor moet stellen, met in elke kamer sowieso een televisie, twee microfoons en een hele lijst met liedjes die gezongen kunnen worden. Daar gaan we dan: twee uur lang lekker meebleren! (De compilatie van onze optredens volgen later.)
Na iets meer dan twee uur stopt de televisie er mee, omdat onze tijd is verstreken. Na dit bijzonder evenement nemen we afscheid van één van de vriendinnen van Laura. Zij gaat namelijk door naar Thailand. Wij gaan door naar het nachtleven. We komen terecht in Muse. In deze nachtclub komen heel veel Chinezen die zich volledig naar de klote zuipen en dan kotsend de tent weer verlaten. Wij hebben lekker een aantal uurtjes gedanst, waarna wij allemaal weer veilig op huis aan zijn gegaan.
