Vanochtend was ik redelijk op tijd wakker. Er wordt in het hotel namelijk een brandoefening gehouden. Dit houdt in dat je het hotel moet verlaten en niet de lift mag gebruiken. Vanaf de 15e verdieping naar beneden lopen via de trap leek mij geen plezierige bezigheid. Dan maar om 9.45u naar beneden. Om 9.55u kom ik erachter dat ik mijn Capitolgids in de kamer heb laten liggen. Deze heb ik vandaag dus echt wel nodig, anders vind ik het kruispunt waar ik met Li-Tong heb afgesproken nooit. Zo snel als ik kon de lift ingesprongen, naar de kamer gerend en weer de lift naar beneden genomen. Zo dat heb ik gehaald!
Ik heb om 12.oou met Li-Tong afgesproken, maar ik ben natuurlijk weer veels te vroeg. Ik loop maar via een flinke omweg naar de afgesproken plek. Desondanks toch nog bijna een half uur te vroeg. Toch is het vanaf één plek ook geweldig om de Chinezen te bekijken. Blijft toch bijzonder volk.
Iets over twaalven arriveert Li-Tong. Wat leuk om haar weer te zien en helemaal leuk omdat we aan de andere kant van de wereld zijn.
De gezellige middag kan beginnen. Als eerste gaan we naar de bazaar. Volgens Li-Tong moeten ze hier de lekkerste dimsum hebben. Dat blijkt ook wel aan de wachtrij die bij het restaurant staat. Na een half uur wachten mogen we eindelijk aan tafel. Zelf zou ik nooit de gerechten besteld hebben, die ik vanmiddag heb gegeten, maar het was echt verrukkelijk. Blijf toch een echte Hollander: wat de boer niet kent…
Na het eten wandelen we wat verder door de bazaar en bezoeken we hier de tempel. Daarna nemen we een taxi naar Taikan Lu. Hier was ik gister al heel snel door heen gelopen, maar vandaag kreeg ik te zien dat dit een wirwar van kleine straatjes is met allemaal leuke boetiekjes en kunstwinkels.
Volgens Li-Tong is het tijd voor koffie. We gaan een hele leuke tent binnen met als thema ’teddyberen’. De cappuccino en de cake hebben dit thema ook meegekregen. Hier kletsen we flink wat af over koetjes en kalfjes.
Hierna lopen we en lopen we. Li-Tong laat mij van alles zien. Dit is de eerste keer dat ik zelf geen plattegrond bij mij heb, waardoor ik na twee uur lopen toch echt wel geheel mijn oriëntatie kwijt ben. Om 18.30u neem ik afscheid van Li-Tong en ga ik met de metro weer naar mijn hotel.
’s Avonds ga ik met Edwin eten bij de Pizza Hut. Niet echt lokaal, maar ik was al heel trots op mijzelf dat ik ’s middags heel veel had gegeten. Na het eten gaan we via de Häagen-Dazs terug naar het hotel. Hier boeken we alvast de hotels voor volgende week, want dan gaan Edwin en ik samen naar Beijing en Guilin.
