Vannacht heb ik redelijk beroerd geslapen. Ken je dat gevoel dat je wakker wordt met het gevoel hebt al uren te hebben geslapen en dan kijkend op de wakker realiseren dat het pas een uurtje is? Nou dat dus…
Rond een uurtje of half acht besloten maar uit mijn bed te stappen. Na een ontbijtje meteen de hort opgegaan. Het plan was om met de metro naar TKTS (verkooppunt van last minute kaartjes voor musicals) te gaan om een kaartje te scoren voor een matinee voorstelling. Gisteren had ik al vier dagpassen gekocht dus hoefde ik niet meer in de rij te staan. Tenminste, was de bedoeling. Schijn ik off peak tickets te hebben, waardoor ik pas om 9.30h de Underground in kan. Aangezien het iets over half negen is besluit ik alsnog maar in de rij te staan voor een enkeltje.
Mijn idee was om vanmiddag de musical Mathilda te zien. Helaas waren daar geen kaarten (meer) voor. Dus moest ik van het bord een andere musical kiezen. Doordat ik de laatste tijd wat meer hoor over Soul Sister besloot ik daar maar heen te gaan.
Maar voor ik naar de show kon moest ik mij nog flink wat uurtjes vermaken. Vandaag besluit ik om een de andere kant op te wandelen. Maar tijdens het lopen begin ik steeds meer last te krijgen van bij voeten. De blaren worden met de minuut pijnlijker. Dus als eerst maar op zoek naar blarenpleister. Wanneer deze over mijn blaren zijn geplakt en de pijn hierdoor iets afneemt kan op weg naar de eerste ‘attractie’.
Ik start bij Buckingham Palace. Meteen een poppenkast te pakken: wisseling van de wacht. Heel veel rode mannetjes met grote zwarte hoeden maken muziek en lopen door de straat. En half Londen komt daar op af om dat te zien…
Vervolgens loop ik naar de Big Ben. Ik wilde namelijk erg graag weten hoe laat het was. Ik zag dat het tijd was om te lunchen. Dus maar snel weer een burger naar binnen gewerkt.
Vanuit bijna heel Londen is de oogvanger van deze stad te zien: The London Eye. Ohh wacht, misschien daarom de naam van dit reuzenrad. Van dit prachtige gevaarte uiteraard vanaf diverse punten foto’s genomen. Gezien het feit dat wij vorige keer al in The London Eye zijn geweest, hoefde ik dat nu niet meer.
Ondertussen is het alweer tijd geworden om naar het theater te gaan. Ik heb genoten van de show. Zelfs het laatste kwartier mee staan dansen tijdens het optreden van ‘Tina Turner’. Wie had dat gedacht?
Na de voorstelling ben ik richting hartje centrum gegaan om wat te eten, waarna ik weer naar het theater mag. Vanavond staat Les Misérables op het programma. Na deze musical een aantal keren in Nederland te hebben gezien, wilde ik deze graag weer zien en in het Engels. Meteen weer heimwee naar ‘onze’ versie. Wat een prachtige musical blijft dat.
Momenteel ben ik op mijn hotelkamer aan het wachten tot ik kan Facetimen (is dat inmiddels al een woord opgenomen in de dikke Van Dale?) met Edwin!
