We beginnen de dag erg vroeg. We worden vandaag opgehaald voor een excursie naar de Chinese Muur. Onze gids met zijn chauffeur waren helaas iets later dan de geplande tijd, waardoor wij drie kwartier hebben staan wachten. Maar we laten onze dag niet verpesten…
We starten de tocht bij het Olympisch stadion, het Vogelnest. Best een bijzonder gebouw. Vervolgens gaan we naar een parelfabriek, een zijdefabriek, een theehuis en een pottenfabriek. Dit alles zat in de prijs van onze excursie, maar van ons hadden ze dit eigenlijk ook best weg kunnen laten. Ach het was wel een leuke dagvulling op deze manier.
Als laatste gaan we naar de Chinese Muur, ook wel the Great Wall. Voordat we de klim gaan maken lunchen we eerst nog wat met onze groep. Daarna gaan we met de kabelbaan naar boven. Dit scheelt. Wij waren namelijk in de veronderstelling dat we heel veel moesten klimmen eer we op de muur waren.
Eenmaal op de muur aangekomen bleek dat hier nog wel veel te klimmen viel. De uitzichten van de diverse punten waren verschrikkelijk mooi. Maar om het mooiste punt te bereiken moesten er toch echt flinke steile trappen gelopen worden. Helemaal kapot en buiten adem kwam ik boven. Wat een prachtig gezicht.
We moesten via dezelfde weg ook weer terug, dit hield in dat we wederom een stukje moeten klimmen. Gelukkig konden we weer even uitrusten in de kabelbaan terug naar beneden.
Met het busje zijn we weer terug gegaan naar het centrum. Wij hebben ons af laten zetten in het gezellige gedeelte van de stad om daar even te dineren. Vervolgens zijn we weer terug gegaan naar het hotel om daar de koffer te pakken voor morgen, want dan vliegen we door naar Guilin.
